Black King, White Knight VII

“It seems, that on this one affair
We both are in accord,”
The ivory knight, without fanfare
Said to the ebon lord.
“On any other battlefield,
I’d answer you with sword.
For now, however, I shall yield,
The lesser threat ignored.”

The king was silent for a time,
His visage grim and loath.
But soon, a twisted grin of grime
A change of heart did troth.
“I never thought I’d see this day,
So please forgive this oath.
But I’ll be damned, if I can say
This demon scares us both.”
