On History and the Past

A solid history and vivid lore
Are bone and sinew to the worlds I write.
No matter what the tale I have in store,
Without a past, there is no future bright.
We base our present on the steps we took
To get here, and each story is the same.
There cannot be an ending to a book
If no one gives the first chapter a name.
