Surfacing

I’m surfacing, if just to see
What changes have occurred to me.
So deep below, so quick to flee
This brilliant modern light.
A bit too tender to the touch,
And those fluorescents can be much
To bear.  I think I’ll head back…  such
Is what I need this night.
